The 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP20) and the 10th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP10) will be held from 1 to 12 December 2014 in Lima, Peru.
The NIES GOSAT-2 project team will attend the event and exhibit the development outcomes of GOSAT-2 and the achievements of GOSAT.
GOSAT-2 is the successor for the Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT), "IBUKI", launched in 2009 in Japan. It is under joint development by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES). The satellite is scheduled for launch in FY2017.
The GOSAT-2 Project Team at NIES is responsible for the generation, archiving and distribution of Level 2 to Level 4 data products (global distributions of concentrations and fluxes) for atmospheric greenhouse gases, notably CO2 and CH4. NIES also promotes the utilization og GOSAT data in initiatives for the mitigation of climate change such as REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation "plus") and JCM (Joint Crediting Mechanism).
