The 24th session of the Conference of the Parties, the 14th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and the third part of the first session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (COP24/CMP14/CMA1-3) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) were held on December 2-14, 2018 in Katowice, Poland.
Satellite Observation Center, NIES, exhibited and presented the achievements of GOSAT and the latest status of GOSAT-2, which was successfully launched on October 29, 2018. The exhibit booth was shared with the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust, Minisitry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The 23th session of the Conference of the Parties, the 13th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and the second part of the first session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (COP23/CMP13/CMA1-2) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) were held on November 6-17, 2017 in Bonn, Germany, hosted by the secretariat of the UNFCCC, and presided over by Fiji.
Satellite Observation Center, NIES, exhibited and presented the achievements of GOSAT and the latest development status of GOSAT-2, the historical timetable to the development of the GOSAT series was showed to visitors at the Bonn Zone exhibtion booth which was cooperated with the Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC). The simulated outcomes of carbon dioxide and methane concentrations based on the GOSAT L4B product, were available by scanning QR codes at the exhibition booth. Dr. Tsuneo Matsunaga, Director of Satellite Observation Center, introduced "A guidebook on the use of satellite grennhouse gases observation data for verification of greenhouse gases emission inventories" at the side event of Cutting-edge Satellite Monitoring and Scientific Knowledge to Contribute to the Paris Agreement: Focusing on the IPCC Guidlines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, which was held on 7th November at Japan Pavilion. Lots of questions and lively discussion among attendees after the presentation on the guidebook (draft version) unveiled at the end of October were generated.
The 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties, the 12th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and the 1st session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (COP22/CMP12/CMA1) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) were held from 7th November through 18th November 2016 in Marrakech, Morocco. Satellite Observation Center, NIES, exhibited the achievements by GOSAT and the latest development status of GOSAT-2 to participatants. An animation of global distributions of carbon dioxide concentration based on the GOSAT L4B product, was showed at Japan Pavilion. Tsuneo Matsunaga, Director of Satellite Observation Center, delivered a speech under the title of How to Use Satellite GHG Concentration Data for Verification of GHG Emissions Inventories in the side event of Efforts to Use Satellite Data in IPCC Guidelines for National GHG Inventories, which was held on 14th November at Japan Pavilion. The participants showed great interest in the theme and discussed the need for cooperation with Japan.
The National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) invited the public to visit a number of research sites within its Tsukuba Campus on 23 July, 2016. The Satellite Observation Center, newly established in last April, posted the achievements and latest status of GOSAT and GOSAT-2. We displayed the global distributions of carbon dioxide derived from GOSAT data on a Dagik Earth, a three-dimensional digital globe, at the Climate Change Research Hall, and organized a GOSAT Quest for students from elementary and junior high schools. Tours for exploring the observation facilities were also carried out.

The twenty-first session of the Conference of the Parties and the eleventh session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP21/CMP11) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) were held on 30th November through 12th December 2015 in Paris, France. NIES GOSAT-2 project team introduced the development progress of GOSAT-2 and the observation achievements of GOSAT to participators who visited Japan Pavilion and IGES/NIES exhibition booth in the conference venue.
NIES, the National Institute for Environmental Studies, invited the public to its annual Summer Open House on July 18, 2015. GOSAT-2 project team introduced the development outcomes of GOSAT-2 and the achievement of GOSAT. The Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTS), which is used to obtain an infrared spectrum of absorption of GHGs, was also opened to visitors during a special laboratory tour.
