GOSAT-2 was successfully launched at 13:08 (Japanese Standard Time) on October 29, 2018 by H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 40 (H-IIA F40) from JAXA Tanegashima Space Center.

The spacecraft of GOSAT-2 was disclosed on September 2, 2018 at the JAXA Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima, Japan. Dr. Tsuneo Matsunaga (2nd row, left 4th) , Director of Satellite Observation Center of the National Institute for Environmental Studies, participated the press release.

On August 28, 2018, the Ministry of the Environment announced that GOSAT-2 is scheduled to be launched on October 29, 2018 from the JAXA Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima, Japan.
