Spacecraft
GOSAT-2 spacecraft is a medium-size satellite with two solar paddles. Its design is based on JAXA's ALOS-2 satellite launched in 2014. Major requirements of GOSAT-2 spacecraft are summarized below.

Instruments
GOSAT-2 spacecraft will carry two earth observation instruments, FTS-2 (Fourier Transform Spectrometer 2) and CAI-2 (Cloud and Aerosol Imager 2).
FTS-2 is a Fourier transform spectrometer with along and cross track pointing mechanism. It observes the sun light reflected by the earth's surface or scattered by clouds or aerosols (Band 1, 2, and 3) and the thermal emission from both the earth's surface and the atmosphere (Band 4 and 5). The intensity of the observed light is recorded with a very small spectral interval.

CAI-2 is a pushbroom imaging system with ten bands in the ultra violet, visible, near infrared, and short wavelength infrared region. Five of the ten bands observe in the forward direction and the other five observe in the backward direction.
